WELCOME!
WELCOME!
I created this Google Blogger page in order to develop a single site in which members of the higher education community can share ideas, tools, opinions, the last news.
As you can see, I've already created a higher education news feed with the Chronicle and Inside Higher Ed daily updates, and I am hoping that with our creativity, technology skills, etc. that there will be much more on the way!

Breaking the Blogosphere Force Field
My stimulus for creating this blog was a classroom assignment and although other students who have been blogging for some time claim that this is actually a "fun" activity I am still a little skeptical only because I can see this being way too time consuming. Does assigning this in a class make this process less enjoyable or some how take away from the true meaning that can be found in blogging?

Say Whaaaat?!
Hi. I'm Brandi. I think the following things are interesting: higher education, institutional research, chaos theory, technology, Sigmund Freud, music, the human brain, learning and The Soup on E! (formally Talk Soup).
I particularly like doing research in higher education (HE) on student learning and success that has implications for practice and policy. Throughout my education I have gathered a plethora of more specific interests in this area. For example, student development in higher education through technology, teacher education, retention and transfer patterns, campus culture, and issues of assessment and accountability in HE.
My focus in this course is on assessment/accountability in HE. I am concerned with the role of learning theory in this work and how learning sciences can offer a new perspective for institutions.
More to come soon....
